Infinitivo solo
En la vida cotidiana no es siempre fácil recordar cuándo debes utilizar el infinitivo solo, (run, joke, make etc.), un gerundio, o ‘to + infinitivo’, y cuándo es correcto. Es más, hay tres reglas sobre por qué usamos el Infinitivo solo en inglés (infinitivo sin ‘to’).
¿Cuándo usamos el infinitivo solo?
- El infinitivo solo se usa después de los verbos auxiliares modales (verbos de ayudar): can y could, may y might, will y shall, must, would, ought to* y should, need to* y dare to*).
- Se usa el infinitivo solo después de los verbos de percepción, verbos para percibir, (see, notice, hear etc.).
- Se usa el infinitivo solo con interrogativos de ‘why’: las palabras que empiezan con “wh-” y how (why leave/help/find etc.).
Se usa el ‘infinitivo solo’ después de los verbos modales,
A excepción de dare to, need to y ought to por su naturaleza, ya que con estos verbos modales es necesario usar ‘to’.

Se usa después de muchos verbos de percepción, con los cuales también se suele usar la forma de gerundio
